Murals for casa infantil mami faela
Illustration - Wall Art - Volunteering
At a small rural school in San Cristóbal, Dominican Republic, together with Unibe’s volunteer team, we coordinated a project to design and paint murals alongside university students using donated materials. The goal was to create murals that could be executed by people with no artistic background and, for logistical reasons, completed in just one day.
To achieve this, I designed a “paint by numbers” system inspired by the ones we used as children, adapting the design grid to the building’s existing architectural lines. Each volunteer received a mockup with clear instructions and a numbered color code that made teamwork simple and enjoyable.
On painting day, the group worked autonomously and collaboratively, filling the walls with color and having fun together. Although rain prevented us from finishing in a single day, I returned a few days later, and with the help of a fellow artist and the school’s founders, we completed the murals just in time so that the first day of classes would feel truly magical.
